Grooved ball bearing
The most famous type is the grooved ball bearing. It is intended for the taking up of mainly radial forces. As the balls fit tight to the relatively deep running groove, this bearing can also pick up low axial forces. One rule of thumb is that the axial capacity should be 10% of the radial capacity. The grooved ball bearing is the most used bearing construction, as it is versatilly usable and it has a reasonable cost-effectiveness.
